About Create Space Buffalo

Create Space Buffalo was established with the vision of offering a comfortable and safe space to the community to retreat to for self care and self kindness. Being human in today's world can be stressful and overwhelming. Everyone's got something. At the studio, Art Therapy, Reiki, and other workshops are offered as modalities to help one increase a sense of mental, emotional and energetic balance.

All individuals are welcomed, seen, heard, and offered support and healing.

We can increase the connection with ourselves and with others through our resilience and strength. 

Art Therapy

Art Therapy is mental health profession in which a certified and or licensed art therapist utilizes traditional mental health counseling techniques and supports clients in the creation of artwork to help them explore and release emotions, gain insight into problems, and practice self care through creative self expression.


You do not need to be an artist to enjoy and benefit from art therapy. Art Therapists are trained in both counseling techniques and studio art techniques and can help even the most weary of participants become knowledgeable and comfortable using all kind of art materials for self expression.

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing.

Guiding Principles 


One of the first elements we thought of when developing Create Space Buffalo was the desire to offer a "pause button." Life can get busy and stressful and often times we put ourselves on the "back burner" to take care of others or fulfill our responsibilities. At Create Space Buffalo, we want to offer a place for anyone to pause, refocus on self, and create more space within. 


As a licensed Art Therapists, Katie has seen the power that creative self expression has in helping people of all ages connect to self, explore, and express what they were unable to put words to. This innate ability to communicate non verbally through images is the first way we are able to make sense of the world. Create Space Buffalo provides the community with a place to reconnect with the ability to use images to express the inexpressible. 


Human beings are resilient. We are hardwired to survive. Throughout our darkest and most challenging days this is evident, even though many times we don't notice it in ourselves. Create Space Buffalo aims to be a place that individuals can go to recognize that resiliency in themselves and receive supportive encouragement when they have forgotten their strength. Pausing, breathing, creating, and releasing all the emotions that weigh on us can help us to create more space in our minds, hearts, and souls for the good in life.
